It was founded in 1955. The corporation was created on March 30, 1989, after the merger of three key businesses: Sui Gas Transmission Company Limited, Karachi Gas Company Limited, and Indus Gas Company Limited.

Sui Southern Gas Company is among the biggest integrated gas firms in Pakistan. The company primarily delivers and distributes natural gas in the southern Pakistani provinces of Sindh and Balochistan. Sui Southern Gas Company's transmission network spans from Sui, Balochistan, to Karachi, Sindh.
